The Story

Florian and Hedvig from Switzerland were on holidays in Holland and walking their dog Ukiro along the North Sea beach.

They had a lot of fun. Especially Ukiro  was enjoying the waves. Suddenly they heard Ukiro barking loudly from the dunes.

Florian and Hedvig ran as fast as they could to the dunes and when they were on top, they saw Ukiro standing by an old fishing-net. The net was moving a bit. There was something in it. It moved. They couldn't see what it was. Ukiro kept on barking so Florian and Hedvig ran off the dune to see what Ukiro had found.

A lovely baby-rabbit was caught in the old fishing-net.
The poor little animal could not get out. Ukiro stopped barking the moment Florian and Hedvig arrived and much to their surprise the enormous dog started tenderly licking the young bunny with his large tong. The baby bunny relaxed and calmed down. Hedvig than carefully removed the old fishing net from the bunny's legs and Florian kept Ukiro under control. Than the baby bunny was set free by Hedvig and they saw the bunny happily hopping away to a nearby dune where its disappeared under a small tree. Florian and Hedvig walked to the small tree but they couldn't see the baby bunnie anymore. Then at once Ukiro  found a dark opening under the small tree. The bunny-hole!

They saw the little baby-bunny footprints disappearing into the hole.Babybunnie was back home. Re-united with dad and mum and the other baby-bunnies.Hedvig, who is art-director for a Swiss TV-channel and a successful painter, was impressed with the baby-bunny and what happened into the dunes. The baby-bunny inspired her to draw a series of Bunnies and to make a picturebook. The Bunnies reflect feelings of happiness, tenderness and love, you can enjoy them here.
